➡️Applying retinol the correct way is important.
Retinol can cause irritation, redness and flaking. Protecting corners of eyes, nose and mouth is important especially if you have dry or sensitive skin or tendency to darken in these areas.
➡️Always start slow with retinol. Start with once or twice a week and if you can tolerate, you can use it everyday.
➡️Retinol should always be used at night. Remember to use a moisturiser on top and a sunscreen in the daytime.
➡️Do not apply Vaseline jelly or do slugging over retinol as this can irritate your skin.
Hi mam, l’ve been using retinol for the past six months. I’m over 25, so I started incorporating it into my routine. I’ve always followed the instructions commonly shared on social media, which involve applying a pea-sized amount, dotting it gently over my face, and spreading it evenly while avoiding the eye and lip areas, then finishing with a moisturizer. Until recently, I haven’t had any issues, but now my face has started itching intensely after using it. The retinol isn’t expired, and it’s been 48 hours since I used it. I’ve tried using an ice pack to soothe the irritation, but nothing seems to help. Do you have advice on what I can do? Should I see a dermatologist about this?
